Notoriously Fun, this uniquely rare factory special order
"Mini Performance Boat" with Hollywood & Bass Lake, CA History
is believed to be one
of only 4–5 examples built by Cheyenne Boat Manufacturing
in Fresno, California. This compact
runabout was ordered in-person by the original owner
Pamela J (PJ), who personally chose the bold
red/white/gray design at the factory.
Cheyenne
Boats, founded in the mid-1970s by Norm Fidalgo with hull
designs by Ben Dunn of Friant, CA, were known for
innovative fiberglass performance boats. Even in this
small 12ft outboard model, you’ll find the signature
dropped keel/center running pad design, a central
lowered flat pad flanked by tunnel-style recesses that
improves tracking, stability, and efficiency at speed.
It’s the same performance DNA found in their more famous
19–21ft tunnel-hull jet boats that dominated California
lakes and rivers in the 1980s.
Meticulously preserved
and researched, this true survivor has recently completed
a 10-month preservation with "emphasis
on originality", performed by Spuds Garage as a Hobby (see
about-us). Stunning original factory upholstery, carpet, gel-coat finishes
and Mariner outboard engine. Refreshed mechanicals,
lubrication, maintenance, Xtreme-flex cables, renewed
rub-rails, bilge pump update, EZ-Loader trailer w/Stoltz
rollers and "Original Factory-Rigged" 1986 Mariner 40hp
2-Stroke outboard.
Recent water testing
reported
a GPS top speed of 32.8 mph with myself, gear and worn original
Quicksilver Black Max propeller, it is quick, responsive, fun to operate and
depending on capacity/conditions, 35-40mph is most
certainly possible. A genuine, documented piece of Central
Valley California boat-building history, Bass Lake summers,
and 1980s movie magic in a fun, easy-to-trailer package.
Ready for her next chapter on the water. Complete
documentation, extensive 1,000+ preservation photos,
history notes and operational items. |
