Body & Safety:
Gen 4 rules emphasized steel over composites for
durability; Taurus body was aero-optimized via wind tunnel
testing. Aero: Roof flaps. Full roll cage (FIA/NASCAR
spec); fuel cell bladder; HANS device (driver neck
support); six-point harness.
Power-Train:
Roush-Yates Ford FR3/D3-series 90° pushrod OHV V8; 358 cu
in (5.86 L) displacement; 2 valves/cylinder; 4.185 in bore
x 3.25 in stroke; compression 12-14:1; dry sump oiling;
~575 lbs (261 kg) dry weight. - Power Output: 750-800 hp
(560-596 kW) @ 8,500-9,000 RPM unrestricted; up to 900+ hp
possible pre-restrictions; torque 650-750 lb-ft (881-1,016
Nm). - Fuel System: Four-barrel carburetor (Holley or
equivalent); naturally aspirated. - Transmission: 4-speed
manual (sequential dog-ring gearbox, e.g., Jerico or
Richmond; close-ratio gears). - Drivetrain: Rear-wheel
drive; limited-slip differential.
Note: carburetor restrictor plate (0.875-1.0 in
opening) at superspeedways (reduces power to 550-725 hp).
Frame Structure:
Round steel tube frame (custom-fabricated, ~100-150 lbs of
1.75-2.0" diameter tubing). - Body: Steel panels molded to
Ford Taurus four-door sedan shape (1998-2005 style;
asymmetrical design prompted 2003 "common template" rules
for hood, roof & decklid. - Minimum Weight: 3,400 lbs
(1,542 kg) including driver and fuel; ~3,200 lbs dry. -
Dimensions: Wheelbase 110 in (279 cm); Width 75 in (191
cm); Height ~50 in (127 cm); Length ~212 in (538 cm). -
Fuel Capacity: 22 gallons (83 L) of 110-octane unleaded
gasoline (Unocal 76 brand).
Suspension & Steering:
Front Independent double A-arm with coil-over shocks
(adjustable Koni or Bilstein); anti-roll bar. - Rear:
Solid live axle (Ford 9-inch) with trailing arms, Panhard
bar, and coil-over shocks; anti-roll bar. - Steering:
Rack-and-pinion (power-assisted).
Brakes: Four-wheel
ventilated disc (13-14 in rotors); steel calipers (Wilwood
or similar); no ABS. - Bias: Adjustable front/rear
(typically 60/40).
Wheels & Tires:
15 x 10 in forged aluminum (Centerline or Aero; steel in
some configs). - Tires: Goodyear Eagle slicks; Front 28 x
4-15 (or 26.5/8-15); Rear 28 x 10-15 (or 30.5/10.5-15);
pressures 20-30 PSI track-dependent.
Note: Running/Complete "As it Drove Off Track-Post
Race" (less radios). It has been on static display for
several years and upon purchase, will be prepared and
ready for start/run prior to transport. |
